Contre les violences conjugales, les avocats aussi s’expriment

Olivier Péan de Ponfilly, 51 ans, est avocat au barreau de Lille depuis 23 ans. Il s’engage dans l’exercice de son métier mais surtout par « convictions personnelles », à défendre les victimes de violences conjugales ou les familles de victimes de meurtres conjugaux.

L’association Nous Toutes recense 85 féminicides (meurtres de femmes parce que ce sont des femmes) au 5 août 2019, depuis le début de l’année civile. Pour l’avocat ce sont « Nos mères, nos sœurs, nos filles, nos amies ». Son métier est à ses yeux « une grande chance parce que ça permet a posteriori de pouvoir les aider en étant leur rempart, celui qui les traitera convenablement ». L’assurance de ne plus être seules et que leur « bourreau ne sera pas impuni  » voilà comment il souhaite accompagner ces femmes.

Le « mantra » que ce père de famille répète à ses filles : « tout ce qu’un homme peut faire, une femme peut le faire et elle n’a rien à subir d’un homme que lui même ne supporterait pas ».

Son travail, c’est aussi de défendre parfois les auteurs de ces violences. Un acte important, selon lui car c’est à ce moment que les auteurs (souvent des hommes) peuvent faire un premier pas vers « une forme de guérison » ? L’avocat précise : « un homme violent est un homme malade ».
